SIGMA PSI ZETASigma Psi Zeta is a progressive multicultural Greek organization that provides a means to success and support for women, particularly women of color. SYZ was founded in 1994 and incorporated in 1996. While SYZ is a multicultural Greek organization, with many sisters in other chapters not identifying as APIA, SYZ has historically been rooted in APIA advocacy. SYZ promotes awareness of Asian/Asian American cultures through leadership, outreach, individual, community interaction, and most importantly, the bonds of sisterhood. Through a network of like-minded yet highly individualistic women, the sorority lends structure and support to sisters that share this vision. Nationally, regionally, and individually, we strive to embody the ideals of Sigma Psi Zeta.
THE OMICRON CHAPTERIn the spring of 2002, the seven founding sisters of the Omicron Chapter met with the hope of starting a group at Stanford University to foster the development and empowerment of Asian American women. As they talked, they felt a common bond: they were all looking for a new level of friendship and support in their goal-oriented, independent lives. They envisioned a family of sisters--one that exhibits dignity, leadership, ingenuity, and grace. The Omicron Chapter of Sigma Psi Zeta sorority is now a family of over 30 active sisters.
