PAULINA "Wanika" REYESHometown: Wahiawa, HI
Major: Mechanical Engineering Involved In: PASU, Stanford Space Initiative, RoboTeam, Robotics, Lu'au Performer Likes: Star Wars and other geeky things, anything Disney, nature! (especially the ocean), playing ukulele, small cute animals of all kinds, traveling, photography Me in 10 years: Hopefully surviving the effects of current political decisions, especially related to the health of this planet. I also hope I'll have an engineering degree, otherwise taking all this math now would not have been worth it. What I appreciate most about SYZ: The support, the laughter, the kindness, the inspiration Fun facts: I have never lived anywhere except Hawaii, but I have been traveling since I was 3 or 4 years old. I am incredibly lucky to have seen 22+ different countries around the world so far, and I really wanna go see more! |

I'm so grateful to be around AA women who slay at everything they do and do it with passion, dedication, and a whole lot of heart. Involved In: Mua Lac Hong, Stanford Vietnamese Student Association, Spoken Word Collective Likes: GiAnT RoBoTS (bonus points if they’re in space or fighting aliens), poetry, stickers, superhero movies, kdramas & kpop, spraycans, sweaters, hugs, sparkly and/or light-up things Me in 10 years: still laughing, still learning :) What I appreciate most about SYZ: The chance to get closer to driven, passionate, and inspiring girls who I might have otherwise just admired from afar because I'm a smol awkward bean. Since then, I've been showered with nothing but love, giving me hope that one day I, too, will grow into a tol proud sprout. Major: Biology with a Concentration in Neurobiology Involved In: APAMSA, SVSA Likes: BOBA (literally addicted and needs an IV), cute stuffed animals, bougie water (like voss, life water, smart water), anime, carbs + food in general, clothes and more clothes, rom-coms and things that give me feels, Christmas (Its the most wonderful time of the yearrrr) Me in 10 years: A doctor with a job, dog, house, and husband What I appreciate most about SYZ: The girls are the realest. They give you the support you need and inspire you to become the best you there is! SYZ is full of passionate girls who will let nothing stand in their way Fun facts: I'm 1/8 (ish) French. I will never be a cat lady because I'm allergic to cats. When I was small I broke my arm and leg on two different occasions, both from jumping on the bed and subsequently falling off. |

Major: Computer Science Involved In: Mua Lac Hong Likes: Sticky rice cakes, berries and cherries, drug discovery, deep learning, sustainable energy, social dancing, Tang poetry, puns Me in 10 years: Friends with an alarming number of cats. What I appreciate most about SYZ: The inspiring dedication, spontaneity, and resilience of my fellow SYZters! The strength of their commitment to the causes in their lives is something I seek to emulate every day. Fun facts: I love long walks on the Oval and School of Medicine. Neil deGrasse Tyson patted me on the shoulder once. I keep a bunch of plushies from my friends and loved ones, including an alpaca named Ser Pwaa. They remind me of the wonderful people in my life when I'm away for a long time. |

DANNA "nissa" XUEHometown: Arcadia, CA
Major: Mechanical Engineering Involved In: SHIFT Blueprint, Stanford Baroque Orchestra, SSAR, SSI, Chamber Music Likes: Cello, space, coffee & boba, design, making music Me in 10 years: I see myself as an eccentric woman, glasses and hair in a bun. I'm surrounded by books, cats, dogs, and music collections. I'll spend my days (hopefully) working at a space research center, and most of my free time chatting with my customers at a low-key coffee/boba shop I'm running (with live jazz music). Also, lots of jamming and making good music. What I appreciate most about SYZ: The community- it's both vibrant and supportive. We really bounce ideas of each other, and are reliable in times of need. Fun facts: I love discussing art, film, books (SCIFI especially), the universe, boba, and coffee. |
